The Crossover Point: Menopause, Rhythm, and the True Essence of Liberation
Share
Life unfolds in rhythms and patterns—just as nature moves through its circadian cycles, so too do we. Women, in particular, are cyclical creatures, attuned to the waxing and waning of hormones, seasons, and stages of life.
But menopause marks a profound shift: the rhythm changes. The familiar pattern of monthly bleeding ceases, and for many women this is their first intimate encounter with mortality itself.
We feel it: the awareness that we are moving more toward the end than the beginning. Some dreams naturally fade—especially the dream of bearing children. And yet, menopause offers something rare and sacred: permission to truly believe and belong without apology.
It is a time when comfort matters more than convention—how we dress, how we nourish ourselves, how we tend to our bodies, especially the vulva, which too is blooming in a new way.
Menopause is not a closing; it is a crossover point. The beginning of a new chapter where the discovery of Self—of the God within—becomes more important than ever before.
The passages that follow menopause are rich and complex. We may learn to live alone. We may face retirement, loss, illness, or health challenges. We may feel an urge to go on sacred journeys, literal or metaphorical.
But all of it—the letting go, the rediscovering—leads to an opening of the heart that is permanent. A softening and a calling home to ourselves.
A poem for this journey:
The crossover point
Where the cycle breaks
And something wilder begins
Menopause makes us
Permanently openhearted
A quiet permission
To lay down apology
To walk with grace
To bloom the vulva
To know that God lives here
At home, in us, as us.
This is the true essence of liberation.
